6 Things You Need to Know About College Admissions Before You Apply to Regent University

Avery Walsh, director of traditional undergraduate admissions, fell in love with the mission and vision of Regent University when she was a graduate student in the Robertson School of Government.

“I just decided that I didn’t want to leave,” said Walsh. “It was something bigger than me that I wanted to be a part of.”

Now, Walsh’s job entails developing that same passion for vision and mission in prospective students. Watch her live college admissions question and answer session from our Facebook page below.

With Regent’s start-date for Spring semester 2018 beginning Tuesday, January 16, here are six things to know if you’re considering pursuing a degree in one of our undergraduate (College of Arts & Sciences) programs, graduate programs or doctoral programs.

1. You can apply any time.

“We have rolling admissions for pretty much all of our programs – just a couple licensure ones that have specific deadlines,” explained Walsh. “But most of the time, you can start every eight weeks with our programs.”

2. You’ll have an admissions counselor to help you figure out what program is best for you.

“We want to talk to you, we want to get in touch,” said Walsh. “We really just want to know what’s driving you for this program. We want to ‘find your why’ and guide you to the correct program.”

3. You don’t have to wait months to hear if you were accepted.

“For those of you who turn everything in, expect, usually, a decision to be made by our admissions committee between 24 and 48 hours,” said Walsh.

4. Your written portion of your application is an important part of your college requirements.

“All of our programs from undergrad to the doctoral level are going to have some type of writing that we’re going to need from you [on your application],” said Walsh. “We really want you to put some thought behind your writing to be able to submit that to the admissions committee.”

5. Faith is important.

“When you hear from [admissions] we’ll ask you if you connect with Regent on that level,” explained Walsh. “We really value character here, so we may ask you how you value character in your day-to-day life.”

6. It’s easy to get started.

Whether it’s online (www.regent.edu) or by phone (800.373.5504), there are a lot of different ways to inquire about starting a program at Regent.
