Application Process – TESOL Certificate

  1. Submit your online application. Please apply for Graduate level, then choose Online, Desired Program: Certificate of Graduate Studies in Education, Major: TESOL Certificate. Indicate the term you want to begin the course and Part-time.

  2. Pay your $25 nonrefundable application fee by check or money order mailed to Regent University, Enrollment Support Services, 1000 Regent University Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.

  3. Provide your unofficial college transcripts. We require an official transcript indicating successful completion of a bachelor’s degree program. Regent has partnered with DocuSign to offer a secure, electronic way for your previous college transcripts to be delivered on your behalf once you have registered for your first semester.

If you have an unofficial copy of your college transcripts, please email those to apply@regent.edu using the subject line: EDU Certificate Application Pieces.

If you are an international student, or you earned college credit at non-US institutions, please submit your transcripts for a third-party course-by-course evaluation. Learn more and find recommended agencies.

  4. Complete your admissions questionnaire. In lieu of the previously required writing sample, please complete a brief admissions questionnaire based on your professional goals and interests. This should only take a few minutes to complete but please answer the questions completely and thoughtfully. This gives us a better opportunity to get to know you and align your objectives with our programs. Once completed, it will be sent directly to an admissions counselor who will be in touch with you right away to help complete the rest of your application.

Note: Although the certificate can be completed in 15 hours, individuals seeking to teach at the collegiate level should complete a minimum of 18 hours of TESOL coursework (ETSL).

Note: All items submitted as part of the application process become the property of Regent University and cannot be returned.

“What I love about Regent is being treated not only as a student trying to pursue an education, but as a person who is trying to make a difference in the world.”

Jasmine Farnsworth, Doctor of Education, 2022

“The adult track of the TESOL program in Regent's School of Education prepared me to work with students on a beginning English level as well as students on the post graduate level.”

Joyce Erber, M.Ed., 2009 TESOL

“I was eager to fulfill a lifelong dream and make a career change to education. Regent's Career Switcher program allowed me to complete most of the training while still on active duty. I was hired immediately upon my retirement from the Air Force. Now a high school teacher, I can say without a doubt that the Career Switcher program set me up for success.”

Joe Sexton, M.Ed., 2012 Career Switcher

“My credentials from Regent helped earn me the respect of parents and the confidence of school leaders. I'm so pleased that I could go one step further and share on a national level.”

Catherine Webb, Autism Certificate, 2004 Autism Certificate

“Regent University has played an instrumental role in educating and equipping thousands of young men and women born within and outside the United States. As graduates, we have the power to use the knowledge gained and the credentials earned to serve, to advocate for, and ultimately to bring change and hope to the hurting world around us.”

Cindi Spaulding, Ph.D., 2009 Teacher
